Railway transportation is one of the most commonly used transportation systems, but railway accidents continue to be a major concern due to track obstacles, gate crossing issues, and fire hazards inside trains. This project presents an intelligent train engine system designed to avoid railway accidents and automate railway gate control using embedded system technology. The proposed system employs an AT89S52 microcontroller interfaced with obstacle sensors, fire sensors, RF transmitter and receiver modules, buzzer, DC motor, LEDs, and LCD display. The obstacle sensor continuously monitors the railway track and detects any object present on the track. When an obstacle is detected within a short distance, the train is stopped automatically and an alert is generated through a buzzer. The railway gate is controlled automatically using RF communication between the transmitter and receiver sections. If a person or vehicle attempts to cross the railway gate during train movement, the system keeps the gate open temporarily and stops the train to avoid accidents. The fire sensor detects fire inside the train compartment and activates a water spreading mechanism along with an emergency alert system. The proposed design improves railway safety, minimizes human intervention, and reduces the possibility of accidents. This system provides an effective and low-cost solution for intelligent railway automation and safety management.
